Ratchadamnoen Road

Published in Night Life Friday, 04 March 2016 06:14 0

It is magnificent and a pride of the city. Since its first construction until the present, it has comprised three main routes; namely, Ratchadamnoen Nai, Ratchadamnoen Nok, and Ratchadamnoen Klang. We choose to begin with Ratchadamnoen Klang as all important sites on Ratchadamnoen Nai are closed. As for light decoration, it starts from Ratchadamnoen Klang through Ratchadamnoen Nok. When walking past the Democracy Monument, not so far, we will reach the Maha Chetsadabodin Pavillion Square built in the 200th Anniversary Celebration of the Rattanakosin Reign. From this position, we are to spot Metallic Castle, the only one left in the world, at Ratchanatda Ramawihara Temple. Little over to the left is the Mahakan Fortress, a white stronghold with the line of city wall winding along the narrow street. Once crossing Phanfa Lilat Bridge, we are then on Ratchadamnoen Nok and can enjoy watching lighting and ancient buildings all the way until the king Taksin Equestrian Courtyard in which a number of people pay homage to King Rama V. Behind this is the Anantasamakhom Throne Hall reflecting the Italian Renaissance architecture built wholly from the Italian marble erecting beautifully and stunningly. We end the light watching tour at this very Anantasamakhom Throne Hall.

Ratchaprasong

Published in Night Life Friday, 04 March 2016 06:12 0

Ratchaprasong is an intersection in the heart of Bangkok. Where Sukhumvit Road and Ratchadamri Road meet.

It is the shopping zone and the attraction of foreign tourists located near Siam Square. There exists a walkway that conveniently links Ratchaprasong to and from it. This makes this compound a large shopping arcade. Moreover, it houses several shrines that are popular among people, to worship namely the Erawan Shrine in front of Sogo Department store, The Trinity and the Ganesha in front of Central World Department Store . Also, on every 31st December of every year, this area is used to host a new countdown occasion, on which people gather and countdown to new year simultaneously.

After paying homage to sacred beings. The stomach needs filling too. We would then select to dine in a restaurant with a fine atmosphere and proceed to go shopping at Suan Lum Night Bazaar, a shopping site open during the day and night using the BTS service again. Commuting only for 2 minutes, we will arrive at Sala Daeng Station, using the fifth exit which connects to the MRT. Riding on the MRT for 1 station and alighting at Lumpini station, using the third exit, we will see the entrance to Suan Lum Night Bazaar.

Wat Pho is also famous as Thailand's first university, and is center for traditional Thai massage - the rich, famous and powerful have all been known to come here. Inscribed on stone in the walls of Wat Pho are all that was known about Thai massage dating from the reign of King Rama III (most previous texts were lost when the Burmese destroyed Ayuthaya)

To get a traditional massage here costs 150B for 30 mins, 250B for an hour and herbal massages are available at 350B an hour. If you want to experience traditional Thai massage, this is probably the best place available and is highly recommended, though be aware that it's not exactly a gentle experience. A foot reflexology massage is also available at 250B for 45 minutes.

It is also possible to take courses to learn traditional Thai massage. These are for 30 hours and cost 4,500B. Courses can be spread over either 10 or 15 days. The massage center is situated at the back of the Wat, the opposite side from the entrance. To get a massage, simply turn up here and wait in line until a masseur is available - perhaps 10 or 20 minutes in the quieter periods in the early morning and late afternoon.

Beauty Day Spa

Published in Health Friday, 04 March 2016 06:01 0

As many say, your visit to Thailand is not complete without the pampering of a beauty day spa. Like the traditional Thai massage, Thai spas provide traditional ways of preserving well-being, curing ailments, and promoting the balance of a healthy body and soul. It is different from traditional Thai massage in that it utilizes plants and herbs with the use of water. Facials, body wraps, aromatherapy body massage, Thai massage, herbal body scrubs, sauna and mud baths are only some of the services provided by local spas. The use of natural herbs to help treat the body and to fully relax the client is also popular in spa treatments. Enjoy a professional spa therapy or a day of unequalled pampering and allow your body and mind to relax with a soothing massage or aromatherapy in an atmosphere of complete comfort, accompanied by soothing music.
